ANALYSIS OF MOBILE TELECOMMUNICATION AND ECONOMIC GROWTH: EVIDENCE FROM ARDL MODELING

This study examines the impact of mobile telephone on economic growth in Nigeria using ARDL (Autoregressive distributed lag) as methodology, with data from 2001-2017. The reveals that penetration had a positive real GDP per capita. Which means more people get access to phones, capita is expected grow. 10% increase will lead 0.5 % average annual concludes telephony can aid sustainable development when used appropriately, full participation all stakeholders, especially country like Nigeria. intrinsic value telecommunications lies not easing communications and information, but enabling development. recommends Consumer protection policies are needed protect consumers unfair calls charges ensure consumer for their money, which increased consumption investment industry.
